HOUSING SOLUTIONS

At The Freedom Institute, we believe that a safe and stable environment is essential for personal growth. Our housing communities foster a culture of care, responsibility, and accountability, where participants receive guided support from our dedicated Care Managers. Through our program, individuals develop the life skills necessary for self-sufficiency, including budgeting, communication, conflict resolution, and time management.

WHY HOUSING MATTERS?

Stable housing is one of the most critical factors in reducing recidivism. Nationally, individuals who lack stable housing are significantly more likely to re-offend. In contrast, The Freedom Institute’s Housing Program boasts a recidivism rate of about 9% while participants are engaged in our services—demonstrating the effectiveness of our approach. This low recidivism rate speaks to the value of stable housing and comprehensive support in breaking the cycle of incarceration and creating lasting change.

WHAT WE OFFER?

Our Housing Program is designed to meet the unique needs of returning citizens, offering a comprehensive approach that includes:

  • Case Management: Our experienced Care Managers work one-on-one with participants to address challenges and connect them to community resources. We focus on individualized support, goal-setting, and personal growth.

  • Rent Assistance: Financial support is available to ease the transition into stable housing, helping participants overcome financial barriers and secure safe living arrangements.

  • Community Living Opportunities: We operate multiple properties in Grand Junction and Montrose and are expanding to meet the growing demand for housing. By creating a supportive, community-focused environment, residents can develop meaningful connections and a sense of belonging.

  • Graduation Housing: Upon completing our program, participants have the opportunity to transition into a lease with a reputable property management company. This arrangement provides continued stable housing and includes payment reporting to credit bureaus to aid in credit repair, further supporting their journey toward financial independence.

BENEFITS OF GRADUATION SERVICES

Transitioning to independent living is a major milestone, and our Graduation Housing option is designed to make this transition smooth, empowering, and sustainable. Here are the key benefits of Graduation Housing:

  • Building a Positive Rental History: By signing leases with reputable property management companies, participants establish a reliable rental history, making it easier to secure future housing independently.

  • Credit Repair Opportunities: With payment reporting to credit bureaus, participants can improve their credit scores, laying the groundwork for future financial opportunities.

  • Increased Independence: Graduation Housing fosters further self-sufficiency, helping participants manage household responsibilities and build long-term stability.

  • Support in the Transition to Permanent Housing: Care Managers provide ongoing guidance, ensuring a seamless transition from program-supported to fully independent living.

  • Access to Ongoing Community Resources: Participants remain connected to resources like job placement, educational programs, and life skills workshops, providing continued support for their path to independence.
